Open Day 2015

Thank you to everyone who came along to our Open Day on Saturday. On a crisp sunny morning staff, pupils and Governors really enjoyed the opportunity to share with you all that is best about our school, to showcase our pupils’ work and to talk to you about their achievements both inside and outside of the classroom.

I hope that you left with a sense of the strong values we hold in our school – the importance of respect, courtesy, tolerance and understanding.

I hope your visit confirmed the range of our challenging curriculum and the high academic standards which our pupils achieve.

I hope you were impressed by our confident and happy pupils who benefit from being in an all girls’ school where we believe in them and encourage them to be the best they can be. And I hope you met with our inspirational and talented staff who provide the support and challenge required to ensure that each girl reaches her full potential.

From the African drumming and Olaf the snowman to the fun interactive Science and ICT activities, Lego Robotics and the mathematical maze on the Richmond campus to the astrodome, the heart dissection, the Young Enterprise and the exploding volcanoes on the Cranmore campus, Primary school pupils seemed to be having a wonderful time. Opportunities abounded to engage in activities in Art and Literature, History, Languages, Classics, Sports, Music and Drama while refreshments in the international café or the HE rooms and the canteen were most welcome! And many left with a photographic reminder of their day as a prospective VCB student!

Our school motto is ‘Honor Fidelitatis Praemium’, (Honour is the Reward of Loyalty) and that strong sense of pride and loyalty to their school was evident throughout the morning as our pupils enthused about the strengths of their school.

I am grateful to everyone who made Saturday morning such an enjoyable experience and appreciate the time taken by many to complete the questionnaire or to tweet us with feedback @vcbtweets #whyvcb

If you missed our Open Day we will be happy to welcome you on 4th February from 2:20pm to visit the Junior campus at Marlborough Park North. This will be a normal teaching day but pupils and staff will be delighted to meet with you and allow you to share in their classroom activities.

Visits to classes will finish at 3:00pm and the Chamber Choir will perform in the Assembly Hall at 3:05 just before the talk from the Headmistress. At 3:30pm those who wish to visit the Senior campus in Marlborough Park South will have an opportunity to do so.

Please contact Miss Mawhinney in advance if possible so that we might plan appropriately for the expected numbers.
