Saturday Hockey VCB

The 4 senior hockey teams travelled to Ballymena this week to play Ballymena Academy and had a very successful morning of Hockey. The 1X1 won 2-1, the 2X1As won 3-0, the 2X1Bs won 1-0 with the U15s finishing with a 0-0 draw.

Following a disappointing loss last Saturday Victoria College started the game determined to win. The start of the game was evenly matched with both teams having chances in the circle but VCB were first on the scoreboard, with Lizzy scoring from a short corner straight strike. Ballymena bounced back to score from a short corner also, narrowly slipping the ball in at the back post.

We started the second half well and dominated with our work rate and good passing. We transferred the ball well around the back and were able to attack well from breakdown play. After many chances lizzy finally slotted the ball into the net to make the final score 2-1.

The goal scorers for the 2As were Georgia Ross, Ara Mc Carten and Natasha Patterson with Anna Whylie getting ‘Man of the Match’ For the 2Bs team  Olivia Pattison scored the winning goal with Rebecca Bunn ‘Man of the Match’. The U15s were unlucky not to score with all the play in their attacking half.
