End of season Prize Night for Hockey

To celebrate the success of extra-curricular hockey in school, the coaches arranged a prize evening to award all the hockey players. This event was held in Cooke Rugby club at Shaw’s bridge on Wednesday 29 April 2015 and was a very enjoyable evening, which started with a meal and then delicious desserts prepared by the senior players. 

The award ceremony included a presentation of medals and certificates by each coach and each captain made a speech and thanked their coaches. Miss Du Toit who coached both the year 8s and 9s this year presented awards for both age groups, U12 and U13. Mr Gray presented medals to the U14 teams, Miss Stewart to the 3X1, Ruth Mc Millen to the 2X1Bs, Mrs Loane to the 2X1As and Paddy Grimes to the 1stX1. Megan Halliday and Kathyrn Shane gave an account of the senior hockey tour to Gibraltar and Hannah McLaren described the U14 tour to Glasgow. 

The most prestigious awards went to Caitlyn Harvey for top goal scorer for the 1stX1 and Rachel Hanley for the 1stX1 player of the year, Rachel made a heartfelt speech describing her appreciation for the nurturing coaching she has received over the past 4 years with Paddy. The top prize went to Georgia Dick for her contribution to Hockey throughout her many years playing for Victoria College. 

The coaching staff would like to wish all the leaver’s good luck for the future and girls - you will be missed and thanks for your fantastic contribution to the hockey club.

1stX1 – Beth Walker and Rachel Hanley
