Health and Wellbeing Evening - 23rd March 2017
Your daughter may already have spoken to you about a programme delivered in the College earlier this year which aims to reduce stress and raise attainment by allowing pupils to take control of and recognise their own feelings. We have been fortunate to be able to avail of the expertise of Mr Fintan Connolly of Take Ten Educational Consulting Company who specialise in learning, development and health in our efforts to support your daughter’s health and wellbeing. Young adults face increasing pressures and often experience a heightened stress response in a variety of situations including examination periods. We are keen to provide our pupils with understanding and coping strategies to alleviate such anxiety which can have detrimental effects not only on their cognitive function and learning skills but also behaviour, self-esteem and performance.
Take Ten have developed an app which we are in a position to purchase for use in the College to support your daughter and her learning. We are also going to trial the use of this app with a number of girls in each year group after Easter with the company and those pupils will provide important feedback on the future development of the app.
We are delighted that the APT are working in partnership with the College in order to raise important funds to facilitate and cover the costs of installing the technology and the delivery of the programmes being offered by Take Ten. Mr Connolly has agreed to share information with parents on the evening of the 23rd March at 7.00pm in the Cranmore Assembly Hall and Dr Alyson Fogarty and Dr Amit Bedi will also deliver training on that evening around the issues of sexual health and drugs.
I would ask you to demonstrate your support and save the date in your diary to attend this important evening. We are suggesting a donation of £10 per ticket for this event and the evening will conclude with a glass of wine and the opportunity to mingle and meet our guest speakers.
Please complete the attached form (link below) and return to either Cranmore or Richmond school office for the attention of the APT. All cheques should be made payable to Victoria College Belfast APT.
I look forward to your support at this event as we work in partnership to educate and provide essential guidance on these important matters for our young people.
With kind regards
Mrs Melissa Murray
