BOC Gases Visit VCB
BOC Gases visited school on Tuesday 26th June to deliver a STEM related talk and display to Year 9 pupils. During the event the pupils learnt of the lack of woman engineers in Northern Ireland and the need for more woman to enter the field. Pupils were told of the fascinating projects BOC are currently involved in and the uses of gases such as oxygen and nitrogen in the food and health sectors. BOC allowed the pupils to participate in multiple experiments, including an amazing liquid nitrogen display. The Year 9 pupils were able to instant freeze flowers and bananas, and even produce liquid oxygen in the -190oC nitrogen.
Both pupils and staff thoroughly enjoyed this event and would like to thank the BOC engineers for taking time out of their busy schedule to visit school
