Students select winner of William Conor prize at RUA

After viewing and being impressed by the standard of artwork produced by our A Level Art Students, Manus McConn (Owner of Café Conor Belfast), invited a panel of Year 14 pupils to attend a private viewing of the RUA show at the Ulster museum with the aim for the pupils to select a winning piece of artwork for the Café Conor Prize.  Mrs Clarke along with Year 14 Pupils Anne Henderson, Becky Weir, Emely Bjorkman Loney and Siva O’Neill attended the private viewing on Tuesday 14th October 2014.  President of the RUA Colin Davidson gave the pupils a tour of the exhibition before they made their selection for the Café Connor Prize: a piece of artwork that features figurative study.  The pupils selected a painting entitled: ‘We declare all these things over you’ by Dublin artist Eleanor McCaughey.  After the selection process, the pupils enjoyed a delicious lunch at Café Conor where they were able to discuss their artwork and the work of professional artists with Manus McConn, who is also a collector of art. All the pupils found the experience very exciting and valuable for their studies within Art.
