Eco Committee attend Belfast Environmental Awards
VCB's Eco Committee were shortlisted to attend this year’s Brighter Belfast Environmental Awards as finalists in two categories, the Green Initiative and the Litter Heroes Award. The event took place at the City Hall on the 27th of November 2014, . The Brighter Belfast Environmental Awards recognise and celebrate the people who are working hard to make their local environment a brighter, cleaner and greener place. Through the competition the Eco Committee were encouraged to collaborate and communicate an imaginative and innovative environmental project plan – The Green Options Project, resulting in the completion of the new eco game Green Options, Bin Rota and developing Eco Mural.
At the event the eco team were treated to a speech by the Lord Mayor of Belfast, Nichola Mallon as well as two more informative speeches from the Department of Environment and the Department of Culture, Arts and Leisure, before enjoying a delicious dinner laid on in honour of all those shortlisted. Later in the evening, the awards presentation began, with each shortlisted contestant being personally named and there work in the field being briefly described.
