Scripture Union at Victoria College
Senior SU social afternoon
Many of our senior SU members were part of the trip to the US in October. Because of this and other commitments to study and work, our usual weekend away in Castlewellan Castle did not take place this year. But on Saturday 7 December after the school Craft Fair we enjoyed an afternoon’s bowling at Dundonald Ice Bowl and a great meal at Blue Chicago, and we look forward to more opportunities to get together and chat throughout the year.
Junior SU retreat
On Saturday 8 February, Junior SU and some Sixth Form leaders met with Mrs Elwood, Dr Brown and Mrs Porter in The Cabin at Windsor Baptist Church off the Lisburn Road. After hot chocolate and some home-baked treats, we spent time studying the Bible, finding out more of what the Bible tells us about being made in God’s image. We had lunch in small groups in the cafes along the Lisburn Road then came back for crafts. Mrs Elwood brought along lovely projects for us, such as mirrors to decorate and tiny boxes to fill with Bible verses. It was a great day for reflection and friendship.
Junior SU celebrate Shrove Tuesday
Junior SU’s regular meeting on Tuesday 4 March ended with a special treat. After listening to the Sixth Form leaders talk about Peter in the first of a series on Heroes of Faith, they tucked in to pancakes which their leaders had provided. There were lots of sticky sauces to choose from as toppings.
