Former pupil Victoria Farley leads 'Nvizible' special effects studio

Former Victoria College pupil, Victoria Farley was at the launch of the Belfast branch of the visual effects house Nvizible on Thursday 4 April 2014.  London visual effects house Nvizible has opened a branch in Belfast, after ear-marking it as a geographical area of growth in the film industry with a shortage of vfx (visual effects) suppliers.

"It's great news for the Northern Ireland film industry; high-end vfx production was the missing piece in the jigsaw, we can now supply everything that any major production would want. I want Belfast to be part of London's success; this is really going to be a real game changer," said Victoria Farley, who heads up Nvizible's studio in East Belfast.

The first project to go through the Belfast facility is Robot Overlords (Embankment Films, pictured), which shot in Northern Ireland last summer and stars Gillian Anderson and Sir Ben Kingsley. The visual effects are being created across both Nvizible sites.

Following A levels which included ICT and Art & Design, Victoria left school in 2005 and completed a degree in Computer Animations at Bournemouth University.  She will now lead the Nvizible Belfast studio with 8 other ‘home-grown’ artists who will provide the computer generated special effects for films such as Muppets Most Wanted and Carrie.

At the launch party which was held in Crumlin Road Gaol and attended by Mrs Woods, Deputy Head, special guests included Chewbacca, Spiderman, Darth Vader and Batman.
