Y13 Health and Social Care girls volunteer with OXFAM

On Tuesday 20th October Oxfam appealed for volunteers to help sort donated items to raise money for the Syria crisis at their office in Edgewater Road at the docks. Fifteen pupils went by minibus to the Oxfam warehouse at 9am. The pupils spent the morning sorting accessories donated by companies, helping the items to be distributed efficiently to Oxfam shops around Northern Ireland.

The sale of £6 worth of processed stock can purify around 2,000 litres of water for makeshift camps in South Sudan. The sale of £22.50 worth of processed stock can feed a child orphaned by AIDS in Malawi for three and a half months. The girls really enjoyed the experience and promised to volunteer again.
