First XI through to the Shield final

Match Report by Lizzy Lawther

On Wednesday 24th February VCB played Omagh in the semi finals of the shield at Royal School Dungannon winning 3-0.

The first half started off with two unsettled sides, neither team dominating the game. Our attacking team did well feeding the ball to the forwards however they were up against a well drilled defensive line.

The second half was more successful as the three goals were scored. The first goal was a team goal with the ball being feed though the mids to the forwards, with Robyn Chambers making an excellent run to the base line before redirecting the ball to Rebecca Lobo who was lurking at the penalty spot and drilled it into back of the net.

Confidence grew in our young side as our second goal soon followed scored by Lizzy Lawther. Receiving the ball from Oddie, Lizzy then took on two defenders and drilled the ball into the bottom right hand corner using the reverse hit. The third came in the last 10 minutes with a ball passed through to Emma Conlin, positioned at the top of the circle, she struck the ball well into the goal.

The goal scorers were Rebecca Lobo, Lizzy Lawther and Emma Conlin.
