U14 Gaelic Football Update

The U14 Gaelic Football team coached by Mr Thompson played three Ulster Schools’ League matches recently. After beating St Benedict’s, Randalstown by 5-15 to 0-5 points at Harlequins, they went on to win against St Louise’s before losing to Coláiste Feirste. Méabh McGurk (St John’s) and Katherine Ward (St Brigid’s) were outstanding in midfield while Eva Briggs (ST Brigid’s), Amy McGivern (St Brigid’s) and Sorcha O’Brien (Bredagh) were solid in defence. Poppy McCamphill (Bredagh) and Marianne Doherty (Bredagh) provided width and pace while Sarah Trainor represented our most dangerous attacking option. The league matches also offered a valuable development opportunity for many younger players to break into the school team for the first time.
