Victory for Victoria College Inter-Schools Show Jumping Competition

On the 1st October 2016 a group of girls from Victoria College Belfast went to compete at the Balmoral Inter-Schools show jumping Competition.

The girls were determined to represent the school to the best of their ability. The Novice Team were the first to compete, jumping a height of 85 cm. It was extremely nerve-racking to watch as the first member (Tara Murphy, who jumped a rather cool and slick round followed by Victoria Fox, Lauren Carville, and Zara Craigs who all helped the team to carry a score of zero through to the jump off. Penny Murphy & Pam Fox helped talk team tactics for the "speed round"; each girl jumped brilliantly inside the team, going on to win the entire competition.

In addition to supporting the novice team, Rose Lindbergh -McDonnell, Jordan McClements, and Olivia Hughes competed as individuals. Rose, a relative new-comer to the team, rode exceptionally well in the 85cm novice competition. Her horse, "Stash n Dash", has clearly adjusted well to Northern Irish life after his journey from America. Jordan was so helpful to everyone before her own competition, looking amazing on Archie. Olivia, riding "Outfoxed" had a clear round in the intermediate, just missing out on a placing. A big thanks must also go to Gemma Chambers who came along to support and to Megan Carville for looking after Lucy, our team mascot so well. Also, Alix Hale was a great help with in- school organisation.

It was a great day for VCB, both girls and parents alike, with a special thank you to Alex Hughes who helped co-ordinate the team.

A huge thank you must also go the organisers whose tireless efforts make it a great day for all the schools.
