VCB welcomes the Rooicats!

Sports Academy is a Christian Charity which uses sport as a tool to select, disciple and raise up a new generation of Christian leaders in the underprivileged communities of George, South Africa.

The charity works with the top footballers and netball players from the secondary schools in the township of George and through coaching, educational support and general encouragement they aim to mould them into good, Godly role models who can impact their local community in a positive way.

The charity was set up in 2008 by Wayne and Suzie McAfee (from Northern Ireland) and has grown so there are now both junior and senior netball and football teams being worked with each year

This year the senior netball team (nicknamed the “Rooicats”) have been given the once in a lifetime opportunity to travel to Northern Ireland for 3 weeks and play a series of matches against 15 different schools. So 12 girls from the township of George and 4 coaches will be arriving on September 23rd and on the 3rd of October we will be welcoming them to our school!
